Sealed Power Reviews

Discover why engine professionals and DIY rebuilders trust Sealed Power—real stories from real customers who count on our components to power their success.
I've been rebuilding engines since the early '90s—started in a small two-bay garage with my uncle and built my first small-block Chevy at 18. Over the decades, I've seen countless brands come and go, but Sealed Power is one name that has stood the test of time in my shop. Most recently, I took on a complete rebuild of a 1972 Chevelle SS 350. The customer wanted OEM reliability with a slight performance boost, and I knew the Sealed Power E-251X piston rings were the right choice. Right out of the box, the machining on the rings was immaculate. They slid into place with no binding or distortion, and the included instructions were clear, even though I didn’t need them. I paired them with Sealed Power pistons, and together they delivered a level of compression consistency that was frankly better than I expected. After the engine was broken in and tuned, we saw rock-solid compression across all eight cylinders—no fluctuation, no blow-by, and excellent oil control. But what really made me a believer again was how well the rings held up after 1,500 miles of mixed driving. I had the Chevelle back in for a post-break-in inspection, and the engine internals looked clean and healthy. Oil consumption? Virtually zero. These rings didn’t just meet expectations—they exceeded them. As a technician who values quality over flash, I choose Sealed Power because it delivers what it promises: dependable, precision-engineered components that help me build engines I can put my name on with pride.

Building high-performance engines isn't just my job—it's my obsession. I’ve been racing and wrenching for more than 20 years, and I don’t take chances when it comes to the internals of my builds. For my most recent project, a 408 stroker destined for a ’71 Camaro street/strip setup, I used a suite of Sealed Power components: pistons, rod bearings, oil pump, and piston rings. I needed parts that could handle high RPMs, big loads, and thermal punishment—and Sealed Power delivered across the board. The pistons went in flawlessly and had perfect skirt geometry for my cylinder bores. The piston-to-wall clearance was within one-thousandth of an inch from what I spec’d, meaning no surprises or last-minute machining adjustments. The rings seated after a short 30-minute dyno run-in, and compression was rock solid at 11.2:1 across the board. The Sealed Power bearings—especially their A-Series rod bearings—really impressed me. After five weekends at the track and repeated dyno pulls, I tore the engine down just to inspect. The bearings still looked fresh. No pitting, no uneven wear. Even the oil pump held consistent pressure during high-rev passes, with zero signs of cavitation or flow issues. I've run engines with premium parts that cost twice as much and didn't last half as long. When you’re running 7,000+ RPM through a motor you spent months building, trust is everything. That’s why Sealed Power is my first call every time. Their quality gives me the confidence to push engines to the limit—and win.

I’m not a professional mechanic, but I’ve always loved working on engines. My dad got me into it back in the '80s when we used to fix up old farm trucks on the weekends. Fast forward to now—I'm a dad myself and recently took on a full engine rebuild of a 1978 Ford F-150 with my 16-year-old son. It was our first father-son project, and I wanted to make sure we used parts that would perform reliably and teach him the importance of quality craftsmanship. That’s why I went with Sealed Power. We used the 8-1985A connecting rod bearings, a set of their lifters, and one of their high-volume oil pumps for our 351 Windsor. I can’t say enough about the installation process—it went smoother than I expected for a home garage build. The bearings were perfectly machined, and we had no issues with clearances. The lifters, once installed, were whisper quiet, and there were no signs of oil starvation or ticking after the first startup. My son got to hear the engine come to life for the first time, and it was purring like it just rolled out of the factory. After the first 500 miles, we did a teardown and inspection for educational purposes—and let me tell you, I was stunned at how clean everything looked. Oil pressure was consistent, no metal in the filter, and no visible wear on the cam or bearings. I explained to my son that this kind of result doesn’t just happen—it’s the result of quality components and taking your time. Thanks to Sealed Power, we didn’t just build an engine—we built a memory. Now, every time we take the truck to a car meet or a Sunday cruise, we both know it’s powered by parts we can trust.
